The Seventh Orthodontic Toast : Absent Friends

In many navies around the world, the seventh toast of the week is to “Absent Friends”.

This is usually the first toast my own family observes on Christmas Day. We’re not big drinkers, it’s usually the only toast.

It’s an important one. Never too late to change: a walk in the mountains

A couple of weekends ago, I met up with some friends I used to share a house with the year after I graduated. At the time, I used to head off at the weekends and go scuba diving or walking in the mountains or cycling and my friends got up late, had BLT sandwiches and watched the Grand Prix on TV.

The Smiles of 2018

I am an android sort of guy.

I do own an iPod. It's apparently an iPod Classic, but when I got it, it was just called an iPod.

I love my iPod. But it isn't as good as the Creative Zen MP3 player it replaced.

But that's it for me and Apple for the time being.

Home movies, smiles.... and trees.

I’d seriously be of the opinion that Christmas is all about family and friends and the people that mean the most to us.

So for me, that means my family converging for a few days in one place. This year we found a DVD that had been made from the cine camera footage that my family had taken in the pre-video age, put it in the player and watched those scenes again. All silent images, but shouting across the decades.
