The Honest Dentist - Advertising in Dentistry in Ireland

Yesterday, I was talking about advertising salads and today I thought I'd briefly compare that to Advertising in Dentistry, in Ireland at least.

I guess both sets of adverts are subject to the regulation by Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland, but dentists are also regulated by The Dental Council of Ireland for most aspects of what they do - even extending beyond dentistry.

The honest leaf

I went to buy some salad at the weekend. One packet of spinach proclaimed "unwashed for an honest leaf".

I think that's probably the maddest slogan I've come across in a long, long time. 

What's an honest leaf? What's a dishonest leaf? I imagine the most honest thing is that it's unwashed because that saves time and money for everyone involved in getting these leaves to me.

They're outsourcing their leaf washing. I'm okay with that.
