Who do you think is the most famous dentist in the movies? There’s one sort-of-famous real life dentist that has been played by many different actors in different movies…can you guess who I am thinking about?

Never Mind Big Brother, Dr X Is Watching

When I was a dental student, a band called Queensrÿche (umlaut over the y, not something you see every day) released an album Operation:Mindcrime. It was a heavy metal concept album, a very listenable series of songs that told the story of a man caught up in a bizarre mixture of government corruption, crooked evangelists, mysterious assassins and mind altering pharmacology.

What's the oldest you can be and still have orthodontic braces?

I did an adjustment for a patient’s braces today.

He’s 67.

I don’t think he’s my oldest patient ever but I think he’s the oldest currently in treatment with me (though he’ll be finishing soon, I expect).

Basically if you have healthy teeth and gums and want something fixed that needs orthodontics, we’d be happy to do it. If the teeth and gums aren’t healthy then we’ll advise what needs to be done and work with your dentist to achieve the best outcome.

About 1/3 of my patients are adults.
