Fashion and beauty blogger Deborah from Love By Debs is starting her Invisalign treatment at Swords Orthodontics and is going to keep us updated with her progress and her experience of the Invisalign appliances.

Although she's renowned for being glamorous, there's a few small details about her teeth that do annoy her, and she'd like to improve on them. She's worn regular braces before and now would prefer a clear braces option.

In this video, Debs explains what she didn't like about her teeth, how much it bothered her and why she preferred Invisalign over other options for fixing the problems with her smile. Later in the video, she gives her first impressions with the aligners immediately after having her first aligners fitted.

You don't have to be a teenager to benefit from orthodontic treatment, and you don't have to be a model or a beauty industry insider to appreciate the benefits of orthodontic treatment with Invisalign. Many of our patients are doing very conventional jobs and enjoy the fact that most people don't notice they are improving their smile - and it's not just for the ladies, many of our patients are men. I guess guys want to do something about how their teeth look, but they don't want too many people knowing that they want to do something about it!

If you are interested in seeing how we can help you with Invisalign, or any other form of orthodontics, call us today on 01 810 7622. We don't charge for our initial consultation with you, so you can find out what's involved at no cost to yourself.

And for October 2014, we have a special offer on Invisalign of €500 off our regular fee.

What's the oldest you can be and still have orthodontic braces?

I did an adjustment for a patient’s braces today.

He’s 67.

I don’t think he’s my oldest patient ever but I think he’s the oldest currently in treatment with me (though he’ll be finishing soon, I expect).

Basically if you have healthy teeth and gums and want something fixed that needs orthodontics, we’d be happy to do it. If the teeth and gums aren’t healthy then we’ll advise what needs to be done and work with your dentist to achieve the best outcome.

About 1/3 of my patients are adults.

Ten Years After

Had a patient today who come back for new retainers 10 years after the end of her treatment.

Her lower retainer was cracked but otherwise both upper and lower were in remarkably good condition.

The alignment of her teeth had maintained nicely, I was delighted with this and it would be great if we could get some photos to show

  1. the alignment before treatment,
  2. just after treatment finished and
  3. 10 years after treatment finished.

So we’ll make her new retainers. We have a scanner here, so there was no moulding of her teeth needed to make the retainers, and we’ll fit them soon.

The thing is… her teeth were so straight, and ...
