Dr. Stephen Murray,
BSc BDS FDS RCSEng MSc MOrth RCSEdin
Specialist Orthodontist
Dr Stephen Murray is the principal orthodontist at Swords Orthodontics.
Originally graduating in Dentistry (BDS) from Queen’s University Belfast, Stephen enjoyed oral surgery, and he became a Fellow of the Dental Surgery faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FDSRCSEng) in 1995.
In 1999, he was awarded a Master’s degree (MSc) in Orthodontics from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MOrthRCSEdin) in 2000. He also has a first class honours degree in Biochemistry (BSc).He is registered with the Dental Council of Ireland both as a Dentist (138/01) and on their specialist register as an Orthodontist (33DS/01).
Dr Murray has carried out dental research, lectured in dental topics in Ireland and the UK, published articles in dental scientific journals, and helped the editors of other journals review articles. He also teaches other dentists, having lectured and delivered popular workshops in dental photography.
In a non-dental capacity, he has given lectures on public speaking and represented Ireland in public speaking and debating, winning a European Championship in 2009. He likes to combine his interests and abilities in dentistry and communication to reassure nervous patients.
Dr Murray is passionate about what he does, and he's committed to continue educating himself about it.
Dr Laura Beschiu
Specialist Orthodontist
Dr Laura Beschiu graduated in Dentistry in 2005 from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Timisoara, Romania and in 2008 has completed her training in Orthodontics from the same university, conferring her the title of Specialist Orthodontist.
Laura has since attended numerous dental and orthodontic conferences and courses around the world in pursuit of clinical excellence, which is her declared goal. She takes great pride in her professional career and makes it her mission to be well informed regarding orthodontic techniques and therapies, while being well aware of the impact that orthodontic treatment can have on a person’s life in general.
Her main focus are children and teens, where their growth potential, if well managed, can lead to favorable results but she has also vast experience in treating adult patients.
Laura is registered as a Dentist and as a Specialist Orthodontist with the Dental Council of Ireland and is a member of the Irish Orthodontic Society.
She has an interest in dental and orthodontic pathology of ancient skulls and has published articles on this topic in international peer reviewed journals.
On a personal note, she is married and has two daughters.

Dr Bogdan L. Selejan, D.M.D. M.Orth., U.M.F., Tg.M
Specialist Orthodontist
Dr. Bogdan Selejan’s career has been built on a foundation of quality education, training and experience. He qualified as a specialist orthodontist in 2014 and remains passionate about creating healthy, confident smiles. Bogdan carries out every type of treatment, from Invisalign and Damon to traditional braces, but he has a special interest in providing non-extraction solutions to even the most complex cases.
Dr. Selejan is a Registered Specialist in Orthodontics with the Irish Dental Council. He is also a member of the Irish Dental Association, Orthodontic Society of Ireland, American Association of Orthodontists and World Federation of Orthodontists.
Since completing his formal specialist training, Dr. Selejan continues to attend postgraduate course and seminars throughout the world, in order to provide the best and most up-to-date treatments available. As part of his continuing education, he participates in numerous local and international study clubs and attends specialist-focused courses regularly.
Dr. Bogdan Selejan was born and grew up in Romania, in one of the most famous regions in the world, Transylvania. He qualified as a Specialist Orthodontist from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tirgu Mures. He now lives in Dublin with his fiancée, Madalina, who also works as a Dentist.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time in nature, playing sports, snowboarding, listening to music and reading.
Michelle - Orthodontic Therapist
Like Brenda, Michelle joined our team in 2007.
Michelle is a qualified Orthodontic Therapist- she received her Diploma the Dublin Dental University Hospital and Trinity College in 2015. Michelle plays an active role in all areas of the practice and with her warm and friendly manner- she is a favourite among our patients. She is exceptionally good at explaining things to patients and putting new patients at ease when they are unfamiliar with orthodontic treatment.
She is certified in CPR and basic life support and oversees high standards of hygiene and infection prevention at the practice. Michelle is continuously looking to improve her skills and is an invaluable member of the Swords Ortho team.
Health and fitness is important to Michelle, who is committed to the Gaelic Football Club and Rugby Club she plays for.
Brenda - Treatment Coordinator
Along with Michelle, Brenda has been part of the Swords Orthodontics team since 2007, and together they are our longest serving clinical nursing staff.
Brenda holds a Diploma in Dental Nursing from Trinity College Dublin which she received in 2012. She is certified in CPR and basic life support and in July 2017, Brenda qualified with a Certificate in Dental Radiology from Dublin Dental Hospital.
Brenda plays an active role in all areas of the practice but really enjoys helping patients through their orthodontic journey as our treatment coordinator. Brenda's main goal is to ensure all our patients have a stress free and enjoyable experience here at the practice. Her kind and caring manner ensures that patients feel at ease very quickly. Brenda also looks after the practices marketing, events and social media.
In her spare time Brenda loves spending time with family and friends and enjoys the occasional sunny holiday!
Courtney- Orthodontic Nurse/Treatment Coordinator
Courtney joined Swords Orthodontics in 2010, and with her friendly and cheerful manner, she quickly became a favourite with all the patients at our front desk and on the phone. She was keen to expand her skills and progressed into the surgery as a trainee Dental Nurse. In 2014 she started a Diploma in Dental Nursing with Trinity College and Dublin Dental Hospital and received her qualification in 2015.
Having more then 10 years experience in customer care- she is an expert in meeting the needs of our patients and always ensuring you have a positive and friendly experience here at Swords Orthodontics. As a treatment coordinator, Courtney will ensure all our patients needs are met sensitively so that your experience here is always positive.
In September 2020, we were delighted when Courtney qualified with a Certificate in Dental Radiography from Dublin Dental Hospital
In her spare time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Emma- Scheduling Coordinator
Emma joined us in March 2018 with an extensive background in dentistry. She is a fully qualified dental nurse and is our scheduling coordinator here. She is the first point of contact for the practice and deals both sensitively and sensibly with any queries our customers have. She is constantly striving to ensure our patients have a positive friendly experience here at Swords Orthodontics.
Aoife
Scheduling Coordinator
Aoife joined us in 2021, having more than 10 years experience in customer service. along with Emma, Aoife is the first point of contact for the practice and deals both sensitively and sensibly with any queries our customers have. Aoife strives to ensure our patients have the best experience at the practice
Aoife has a degree in Baking and pastry arts management and In 2021 Aoife received a diploma in medical secretary.
In her spare time Aoife enjoys spending time with family and friends and baking for all the Swords Ortho team.
Lisa- Orthodontic Nurse
Lisa joined the team in April 2018 as a qualified dental nurse and has become a valuable part of the nursing team ever since. With her bubbly and friendly personality, Lisa loves interacting with the patients in the clinic and ultimately placing them at ease throughout their treatment.
In September 2020, we were delighted when Lisa qualified with a Certificate in Dental Radiography from Dublin Dental Hospital.
Simona
Dental Nurse
Simona joined us in August 2021 with an extensive background in dentistry.
Simona has been dental nursing for 7 years and has become a valuable part of the nursing team. Simona's friendly demeanor in the clinic puts our patients at ease throughout their treatment.
In her spare time Simona enjoys spending time with family and friends and long walks with her dogs.
Danielle Lakey
Dental Nurse
Danielle joined Swords Orthodontics in 2022. She has an extensive background in dental nursing and has become a valuable part of the nursing team. Danielle studied performance arts in Bull Alley and has a diploma in office I.T. Danielle spent 14 years in supervising and management positions in the retail sector.
In 2017 Danielle decided on a career change and entered the dental field. Danielle began as a general dental nurse and worked her way up to orthodontics.
Danielle hopes to return to college in the near future to expand her skill set in the dental area.
